Freight Damage? Here is a method of dealing with the paperwork. (we get about one damage every year...).

SHIPPING DAMAGE CLAIMS

If your game, etc is apparently damaged by the freight company here is what you MUST do if you are going to file a freight damage claim:

Shortages:
Note on the delivery receipt EXACTLY which item is short and have the shortage verified by the driver.

Visible Damage:
Note on the delivery receipt EXACTLY what is damaged and the extent of damage. Be as specific as possible. (eg. Carton crushed, hole in carton showing 6" scratch, etc) Have the driver verify the damage.

Concealed Damage:
Report to delivering carrier IMMEDIATLY any damages discovered after delivery. Carrier will either waive inspection or send an inspector to examine the goods. Hold the packaging and shipping container for the inspection. DO NOT DISPOSE of the salvage unless you advised in writing by the carrier to do so.

Time Limit:
Varies. Check with carrier. Some are as much as 9 months from date of delivery.

Documents Needed:
Your claim MUST include the invoice covering the value of goods while in transit and, where applicable, the repair invoice and inspection report. Needless to say KEEP all your documents!

Questions:
Call the delivering carrier at the number on the freight bill.
